San Diego Food Trucks drive SOE Development
By: Donna “Danicia” Prior – Social Media Specialist
As the person at SOE who gets to broadcast fun things to Social Media, I get to watch our staff use Twitter to share pictures & comments about our lunch choices. Many of us are sending photos around, letting our fans and friends drool over our fantastic “tasty noms.” We consider ourselves pretty lucky, because we are visited by some great local Food Trucks.
We are also very supportive of promoting local businesses, and everyone knows that good food fuels happy people. The food trucks who visit here offer us an opportunity as the new “water cooler” where people in different buildings can hang out and catch up with what is happening on each team.
Some team members even bring their dogs out to the truck for treats and socialization!
Here are some of the Food Trucks who visit the SOE San Diego campus; if you are local you can follow them to see where they will be next.
Chubby’s Food Truck (http://chubbysfoodtruck.com/) – Best known for their homemade Chorizo, they’re quite a popular choice. *The Paradise Burger is another big seller. The truck has only been open a few months, but they’re building a great following. Follow them on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/Chubbysfoodtruk) & Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Chubbys-Food-Truck/241897845821181).

Mr. Pig’s BBQ (http://www.thepigmobile.com/) – We all love Mr. Pig’s BBQ! These folks make some amazing BBQ and are very engaging as well. *They are always full of smiles for their Tuesday visit.

The “Porky Fries” are probably the big favorite at SOE. Pulled Pork on Fries, with BBQ and green onions make a great lunch. Combine that with their homemade Wowo’s Apple pie? Nothing more needed!

Follow Mr. Pig’s BBQ on Twitter (http://twitter.com/#!/thepigmobile) & Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/#!/MrPigsBBQ).
Recess (http://eatatrecess.com/) – Recess Food Truck makes lunch time fun! Not only do they show music videos while you wait on their 50” screen, but you can challenge people to a Kinect dance-off! They believe in fun & games, along with supporting local farming & organic ingredients.

There are many reasons to eat at Recess, starting with their Bully Burger. Bacon, BBQ sauce, grilled onions & cheddar make this a SOE favorite.

Combine that with their AP Tots (with Truffle Oil & Feta) and you’ve got an amazing meal. It’s probably a good thing they have a dance-off game. They also offer many salads and healthy sandwiches, too. You can follow Recess on Twitter (http://twitter.com/#!/eatatrecess) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/EatAtRecess).
Flippin’ Pizza, New York Pies & Slices (http://www.flippinpizza.com/) – These folks put out a pretty awesome pie. They’re very successful as a small chain, which people in other locations can also sample some slices.

Since just about everyone loves pizza, it is an easy sell to hungry SOE employees. It is nice to have your slices baked right on the truck.
