Mandoril, Medorius, Mikla + Challenge
by EQ-Raiders
--- Normal Mode ---

The Three Sages need to be tanked by three different classes of tanks. Medorius must be tanked by a brawler class. Mikla must be tanked by a Crusader class. Mandoril must be tanked by a Warrior Class.

There is really no AOE to watch out for except an arcane that clears your target every so often. To initiate the pull you will need to have all your tanks at the same time pull each of the named. Tank the named pretty much right where they are at all times.

Since you will have an extra group for DPS you should have them with the brawler group and kill Medorius first, then Mikla and then finally Mandoril as that is the order of hitpoints as well.

Now, the tricky part of the fight is using the 'Necromantic Pots' that drop from the adds at the beginning of the Maalus fight. You may want to farm these pots first. Perhaps acquiring roughly 2000 pots for your first attempts at The Three Sages. You can go through alot as you are learning the encounter.

The way the pots work are similar to the 'salts' from the Xebnok encounter from the TSO expansion. Only this time you will get a nasty curse if you screw up.

The Brawler mob (Medorius) will only put the Noxious on Fighters and Scouts. The Warrior mob (Mandoril) will only put the Noxious on Priests and Mages. Crusader mob DOES NOT cast the Noxious at all. So hand out Pots accordingly to the people who will NOT be getting the Nox effect.

All you have to do is target the person who is afflicted and use a Necromantic Pot. It is a instant cast and instant recast.

That is the trickiest part of this fight.. you need to pay attention for that effect. If you miss a cure get ready to cure CURSE right away otherwise it will infect everyone near you. The curse will cause you to be unable to target anything and you will not be able to proceed.

The second part of this fight is when the Sages put up their stoneskin orbs. You will see them emote and put their hands up in the air. It is at this time that they are rooted and warded against all damage. They can still be debuffed though.

You will need to complete a 6 step Heroic Opportunity to break the orbs. Only one HO needs to be completed and it will break on all three Sages.

This HO can only be started by a scout and it is the only HO you are allowed to use during this encounter anyways.

Once one of the sages are down proceed to move those groups to the next sage. The brawler CAN NOT HIT Mikla and the same goes for the Crusader AND the Brawler can not hit Mandoril. Once each tanks mob is dead, just have those tanks stay back and watch or assist with curing people of noxious. If the wrong tank melee's a named it will stun the entire raid and too many stuns may drop your current tank or cause you to be unable to cure a noxious.

You also can not use any kind of Shaman Pet or Dumfire during this fight as most of those are considered fighters. Including Brig pets. These will trigger the Arcane Stun.

Also roughly 15-20 seconds into the fight Mandoril will need to be right-clicked to prevent the challenege version of this encounter from spawning.

Go nice and easy and this mob will drop to your raid in no time.

Good luck.

--- Challenge Mode ---

During Challenge Mode version the fight is essentially the same except the AOE's will harder so pay attention to which resist you will need depending on what is hitting your raid harder.

The fight begins the same way normal version does. So set your tank in the proper position on the proper mob. Once they go Energized dps to your fullest potential. Now, for the energized version of these mobs most raids will take down Mandoril first as the energized version is the hardest of the three and he can one shot your tanks if the fight is going too long. (unconfirmed, but we watched it happen)

When the Three Sages put up there barriers, this time, you have to move your tanks counter-clockwise around the room to next mob. The sages have a stone on them located in their spell window that will also tell you which tank needs to be on that named. But for the sake of explanation, while the three sages are all there its counter-clockwise. Mandoril tank moves to Mikla, Mikla tank moves to Medorius, and Medorius moves to Mandoril. DO NOT remove the barrier or start dpsing until the tanks have regained aggro over their new mob.

When one of the sages is downed proceed to keep switching tanks. Now the stone does keep rotating so if you are having a hard time keeping track what tank should be on the mob, which alot of guilds do at times, just call it out as you are making the switch.

As long as your raid moves together, keeps an eye on those noxious detriments just like the normal version and your healers can keep up with the aoe's then this fight will not be a far stretch from the normal version.

Good luck!

You must keep switching, and keep track of who is supposed to be on what mob. The switches keep happening just as if the dead mob were still there, so once one is dead, there will always be one fighter who is doing nothing.

In HM after one named is dead does that fighter stop attacking like in normal mode or will there still be a switch where he will be needed to tank a mob.

If you tank them close enough for AE's to hit more than one, you're going to wipe. End of story.

Can you is use AEs in this fight? Is it a wipe if a tanks AE hits another tanks Sage
