Iilsaad's Barrier
by EQ-Raiders
The barrier golem can be very tricky because their really isnt an ideal place to tank him.

The tricky part with this fight, other than the fact he hits very hard, is that every 45 seconds or so he will place a ring on the ground which about 5 seconds later will cause a large earthquake AOE that will be confined to that area. Anyone caught up in the circle who doesnt move out will most likely die.

Fighting him in the hallways isn't really an option because of the large size of the circle and you never want to joust too close to him otherwise his AOE's will eat you alive.

The best place you can place him is in the corner of the doorway and the raid rushing to the spot he was standing. Reason for this is you can stay a bit to the right of that square entry way where he was standing and just joust left when the circle appears on the ground. You want to make sure the circle is almost always in the same spot so make sure your raid stays in a tight area. If the circle appears on the MT just have the MT pull the golem to the side and then back again. Generally your raid will be jousting always to the left with this setup. But remember, the room is circular, you want to ensure that you are max range because he will aoe the raid hard as you are moving and heals won't be as quick.

Keep this pattern up to beat the golem.

Good Luck.

For raids that are having trouble, particularly shorthanded raids, it often helps to keep everyone but the MT at ranged so that the tank is able to maneuver, reposition, and manipulate the angle of the mob as needed without worrying about who is going to get hit with a frontal if he takes one step the wrong way.

I run with 4 joust points and it keeps things fairly simple: the melees joust from flowerpot to flowerpot (positioned at Barrier's 5-o'clock and 7-o'clock) and the raid jousts from a few steps inside the doorway to the other side of the room... when the melees get quaked, the raid stays put. The less moving your healers have to do during this fight, the better. They're already getting knocked around the room enough as it is.

All three aoe's are curable, two elemental and one trauma (joust the trauma), make sure they get cured. The positioning isn't really that important as long as you have two locations your raid force can run between every time he does the earthquake, whilst staying behind him - we fight with the tank turning him in place and we run from the door the benches. Trigger in ACT for the earthquake makes it easier to make sure melee is out when it goes off so the circle is always away from the MT - have MT joust if it is on MT instead of the raid.

thought about doing benches will try that next. I assume by reactive damage you mean damage shields and such?

Also he hits fairly hard as well. Not sure what other tanks get hit for but I noticed a big difference getting your defensive stats as high as you can since dps for tank apparently is near impossible without getting bounced all over the place.

Also the elemental is cureable (been using elemental raid banner)... and there is a curse as well similar to Kendis/Penda... are other aoe cureable?

Tank him in his room. When you enter the room look strait across, and you will see benches.. tank between the middle two, and just alternate back and forth between those 2 while the raid jousts across the room. Just tell healers not to dps, and the knockback isnt an issue... Oh and tell all the retards to take their reactive damage buffs off u.

I tend to like to pull it down with a hammer where azara the seer is, and put it in a corner down there or wedge urself under a border on the wall - and its easier to move when circle to.
