Books makes it way easier and faster to take him down btw...
If you wanna joust that is fine.. we did that the first couple of times before we figured out the books.. Don't forget that he has that debuff that makes you more vulnerable, doubly so when red letters appear and he ramps up, if you stay in without the books then you must joust/go ranged on his ae til the debuff wears off or its gonna put some serious damage on you..
He doesnt AE when he does that red message.. he powers up.. so u dont need to joust either way.
If you read the first paragraph it says you can just joust if you want to. It's how we normally handle it because running around and finding books is annoying.
I assure you that jousting works just fine, and unless there was a stealth fix (I'll find out Wednesday), you don't have to get the books.
We were very low on DPS and my current bet is he does have a DPS check to make jousting his red text attack less desirable. Not that we ever noticed it till we were under three groups, most of which wasn't DPS.
wtf are u jousting? the red letters on this fight dont mean joust.. they mean click a book ~_~
Found out last night he has a DPS check after he drops to about 50% life or perhaps it's just timed. We were shorthanding him and jousting. After the second joust he'd start doing 30 - 40k hits.
Figure the check is pretty low, but it was casual night and we were very short handed and lacking DPS.
After 3 wipes this way, we grabbed the books and used them. With folks staying in instead of jousting he went down as easy as ever.
